FAQs
What is a ‘dog concierge’?
Dog Days offers the kind og help you would get from a trusted friend or family member. Someone who understands your needs, and your dog, and is consistent, trustworthy and available. We chose ‘Concierge’ as the level of service you get at a lovely hotel is premium, it’s well researched, timely and, above all - makes you (and your dog) happy and comfortable.
Why do you need to be a member to gain access to services?
We chose to create a subscription service to offer you a level of commitment that gives you peace of mind. It allows us to plan for three months the training your pup requires, the cadence that becomes a comfort in your week, and it creates a trust-based experience between us all. Being a member gives you access to so many dog related services in one place. No need to call, text and arrange your calendar with lots of different services, or people - we can help with it all.
What accreditations do you have?
We are a certified member of the Pet Professional Guild Australia and the Pet Industry Association of Australia.
What is so different about Dog Days?
Our local approach means we guarantee less time in the car for your dog. We’ve seen some dogs (thanks to airtags) in vans for up to three hours out of a full day of doggy day care! We guarantee your dog will only be in the van for an hour total, of any day (unless we are headed on an adventure, and you have approved the drive time). We have harnesses and secure dog seat belts in the van, to ensure maximum safety. We use gentle methods of training that use positive verbal reinforcement dog psychology hypoallergenic treats and a slow approach that creates a bond built of trust and mutual respect. We will not pull, yank, force, use negative language or ‘dominance behaviour’ methods, ever. We will review your dog’s interactions and give honest feedback, suggestions and appraisals.
How many dogs are on a group walk?
We walk a maximum of four dogs per walker. In NSW this is the maximum number of dogs you can walk on lead. We will always introduce the dogs slowly to their pack mates before walks, and whenever there is a new dog. We will change the pack walks depending on temperament and friendships that the dogs have to ensure they are happy, safe and get a really good rumble if that’s what they like.
What times do you walk the dogs?
830am-430pm, Monday to Friday. We usually break down the day into two walks in the morning and two walks in the afternoon. Other services can be booked in for early morning, late afternoon or from 11am-2pm. We can also add services like turn down (cleaning), onto walk times.
Do you walk dogs on weekends?
Please give us a call and we can discuss a bespoke plan for you and your dog.
Do you walk dogs that are not desexed?
Yes. It always depends on the dog, and our groups. Unfortunately we can’t take female dogs in season, unless on a solo walk, on lead, for her safety.
Excited new pup parent - can you help?
Ohmygosh, yes please! We can assist with sleep set up, toilet training, food prep and nutrition, training, home assessment and socialisation.
It’s raining. Do you still walk the dogs?
We sure do! On really rainy days, we offer a dry off service for you, so your mate isn’t running mud around the house.
Where will you walk my dog?
We will walk your dog based on breed, age, your knowledge of enrichment and need as well as time of day, or season. We do not walk dogs in summer in the middle of the day, unless we drive to Centennial park, where there is shade. We will only allow your dog off leash with your approval, or once we ascertain they have recall and social skills that keep them safe.
