Dogs Are Like Teenagers: How Often Should You Be Cleaning Up Their Bed & Toys?

What do I mean? Well, they don’t clean up after themselves, don’t notice when things are dirty (in fact, they love it) and they certainly never do the laundry!
Can you imagine how many germs, bacteria, mud, animal faeces and a plethora of other things make it from the street, beach and park into your home? We all wash our dog when they’ve rolled in a dead lizard (Bo’s favourite) or some left over vom – obviously! But a staggering number of pet parents don’t realise that cleaning your dogs’ belongings also can make a difference to not only the smell, but also the health, of your dog.
Food & Water Bowls
We recommend daily washing your dog’s water and food bowls. Imagine eating from a bowl that had a week’s worth of dinner left on there? Ew David.
Bedding/Car Blanket
Weekly, same as your sheets. Your guests will thank you! No more gentle ‘whats that?’ pong as you walk in the house, or get in the car.
Toys
Not something many people are aware of, but given these are in your dog’s mouth, then in the yard, then in the house, then in other dogs’ mouths….you get the gist.
Collar/Leash/Jacket
Just throw these in a cold, quick wash once a week, or soak for 10 minutes and hand wash (I can’t stand the sound of clanging in the washing machine – what’s the opposite of ASMR?!).
If you’re like me, there’s never enough time in the week to get laundry done, let alone add a whole heap of new dog-related tasks onto the list. We can help sort it out for you! Let us know if you want to add the turn down service to your walk, and we’ll get it sorted for you.
